How can I make a stem and leaf plot with very widespread numbers?

August 31, 2009 - 9:11 pm 1 Comment

I have to make a stem and leaf plot for the average precipitation (in mm), and my numbers are very far apart.
Numbers: 20.5, 9.5, 15.3, 29.7, 123, 262, 423, 421, 353, 197, 135, 65.3

Thanks for helping!

I would personally separate your numbers based on their hundred value, because anything smaller will result in 40+ lines, many with no statistics in them. So, for example, I would do this:

Stem I Leaf
_____I
0____I 09.5 (put in the zero to indicate zero in the ten column,
_____I just to beconsistent.), 15.3, 20.5, 29.7, 65.3
1____I 23.0 (use the decimal system once again, just to be
_____I consistent), 35.0, 97.0
2____I 62.0
3____I 53.0
4____I 21.0, 23.0

Hope that helps! Good Luck!

What is the best family hotel in Williamsburg, Virginia?

August 31, 2009 - 9:11 pm 4 Comments

I am taking my family of 5 on vacation to Williamsburg & need to find a hotel that’s family oriented with indoor pool ,but also close to everything,(busch gardens, watercountry, williamsburg, jamestown & yorktown). Also, maybe hotel with breakfast buffet or close to other restaurants.

You might want to stay at two different hotels. We stayed at the Woodlands when we were just seeing Colonial Williamsburg. It is next door to the visitors center and there are lots of buses back and forth to Colonial Williamsburg (you cannot park in Colonial Williamsburg). It has a free breakfast and lots of families with kids of all ages. No pool, but you are spending the day in Colonial Williamsburg. You can also get a special rate on your admission ticket and a dinner meal plan that really saves a lot of money.
Jamestown is just a day trip.

How do australian people view Irish people living in their country?

August 31, 2009 - 9:10 pm 2 Comments

Just want to know what the general view of Irish people living there is. I know there are many Irish young people living there on a working holiday visa. Have they given themselves a bad or good reputation?! I am going to australia on a working holiday visa with my US gf and want to know what the general view of us is!!

Love different people being over here - it makes things more interesting. White Australia has no culture to speak of. Most Irish people are fun, fit in well with Aussies, and I think you’ll find a lot of Australian people will want to tell you all about how their family came from Ireland back in the day. I do it all the time - my ancestor stole a pig.

France uses SECAM, along with several Eastern European states.

How can one work and travel in Ireland without being a student?

August 31, 2009 - 9:10 pm 3 Comments

I am interested in doing a work and travel program in Ireland. I have looked on many websites, and it seems like that is only possible when one is a student at a university in the US. Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, or links that I could look at??

It would mean getting a residency/work permit, and this is very expensive, and you would need a job offer in Ireland in order to be able to do this. Alternatively, you could investigate whether or not your immediate ancestors were born in an EU country, which would mean that you could apply for citizenship of that country, and then you wouldn’t need the work permit. EU nationals can live and work in other EU countries.

Right now, as a US citizen, you are out of luck, unless you have a specific qualification or skill that’s rare and required in Ireland. We are also suffering from the backlash of the economic downturn, so at the moment Irish employers are taking on Irish nationals mainly.

How did you find your accommodation in Milan?

August 31, 2009 - 9:10 pm 4 Comments

If I had to plan to stay in Milan for some months, where should I look into in order to find "value for money" (nothing super fancy) accommodation?

I was asking the same question a couple of months ago. There is a company called www.choove.com which offers flexible accommodation in furnished apartments. They are very friendly people and im sure they’ll help you.

What’s the best way to defeat writer’s block?

August 29, 2009 - 10:12 pm 9 Comments

I need to finish my book by august and I still have 47 pages to go. I already have 353 done but I keep getting writer’s block. Only one month left; help!
I already have the outline complete. I just get so bored and easily distracted every time I sit down to write.

I listen to things that I like, for example, the sound of rain, maybe listening to music may inspire me to write sumthing, or I go over what I’ve already written, (not the WHOLE thing buh some of it, lyk a couple of the previous pages). I also think about people: lyk my friends, family and juss people i noe. N’ I noe this sounds strange, buh eat sumthing that u lyk, it might give u an idea, lyk maybe the main character was at lol…buh whatever u lyk, whatever has inspired u in the past, u should try, to help u get ideas…g’luck on ure book, hope everything goes well!

What is the best way to get a hotel from an airport without using a rental car?

August 29, 2009 - 10:12 pm 12 Comments

My wife and I are planning a trip to Orlando. We want to visit all Disney Parks and Seaworld. I found a Hotel that gives free shuttles to all those destinations, but the Hotel is like 20 miles away from the airport. I don’t want to pay for a rental car for a week and half just to use to get-to-and-from the airport and Hotel.

Usually hotels have a free shuttle that can take you from the airport to the hotels. If that isn’t an option, there are usually independent shuttle services that can take you as well which are cheaper than taxis. I believe reservations ahead of time are necessary but at least it will be cheaper and more convenient for your family.
