How many grams of solute do you need to prepare 353.2 mL of 0.407 M NaOH?

September 30, 2009 - 9:55 pm 1 Comment

C=n/v
Concentration or molarity = number of moles / volume of the solution
……So we have the concentration and the volume….
that means we can find the number of moles using this formula C=n/v
rearrange this formula to make the number of moles the subject:
n=c times by v
c= 0.407 M
v= this has to be in litres so 0.3532 L

n= 0.3532 times by 0.407 = 0.1438 moles of NaOH
so to get the grams
n=m/M
m= n times by M
Na molar mass is 23, (from periodic table)
so, m= 23 times by 0.1438 = 3.306 grams of Na

What would you pay on average for a hotel room? How expensive is too expensive?

September 30, 2009 - 9:55 pm 2 Comments

I’m doing a report for a Guest Management Service class on "How Expensive is too Expensive?" in regards to hotel prices. What you pay on average for a hotel room? And what do you think certain age groups pay for hotels? Who’s more attracted to the expensive hotels and the cheap or medium priced hotels?

On average, I pay between $80-$100 for a moderate hotel room that offers free internet and breakfast. I will pay up to $250 for a hotel room in a prime location (such as major cities or on the beach). The time of year also effects the cost of a room. A hotel in Washington, D.C. can be $75.00 a night in March but $375 in October or April. I think younger hotel guests are more interested in finding the cheapest price. Older guests are willing (and able) to pay higher prices for a prime location in high season that offers amenities such as restaurants, spa services, gym, pool, etc. Families want a moderate price for a clean, safe hotel.

What major events happened in the Irish Revolution/War of Independence?

September 30, 2009 - 9:55 pm 1 Comment

Well, it’s a pretty straightforward question;
What major events (battles, or anything really important) happened during the Irish Revolution/Irish War of Independence?

Specific events, please. Like, for instance, the signing of the Anglo-Irish treaty could be one, or the Easter Rising of 1916 could also be one. If there are specific places you could mention, that’d be absolutely amazing.

Well you have already mentioned the Easter Raising at the G.P.O.
So how about:

Bloody Sunday

Michael Collin’s Assassination.

Then you could go on to the Troubles in general and more recent
events like the ‘Battle of the Bogside’ or the Hunger Strikes ect.

What Bible version use Irish people in the Republic of Ireland?
Thank you! (I think, it won’t be the King James Version, isn’t it?)

Most Irish Chritians are Catholics (at least in the Republic) … so it must be the Catholic Bible.

How can hotels and satellite services offer movies to purchase that are still in theaters?

September 30, 2009 - 9:54 pm 1 Comment

I understand that they need copyrights to the movies they are selling, but is there some kind of services(like DirecTV’s pay per view) that already has copyrights to different movies that they purchase for or from? Hotels offer in room movie purchases that are still in theaters. How can they do that or what services are they with??

There are several companies that provide this service for hotels. Generally, it looks like the video service company provides both the the hardware to run the service (a central server in the hotel and in room devices) and the content for the service (through licenses with movie studios and such).

Here are two companies that offer these services:

For Canadians, If my income for 2007 was $32,353.91?

How much tax should I have paid?

The amount varies by province, because your income taxes also include Provincial income taxes. The exact amount will also depend on whether you can claim any tax credits (children, RRSP, etc)

For example, in Quebec you could have paid $6200, but in Ontario it could be $4853

Ernst & Young, a large multinational accounting firm, has a tax calculator that will give you an estimate of what you should have paid:
http://www.ey.com/global/Content.nsf/Canada/Tax_-_Calculators_-_2007_Personal_Tax

You can also go to ufile.ca, or one of the other tax preparation software sites, and fill in your info. It’s free to do your return and see the taxes owed/refund amount because you only pay when you file. So you’ll get an *exact* amount that way

How weird is to pay a hotel room in cash?

September 28, 2009 - 7:05 pm 21 Comments

My company is going to send me on a business trip. There is some inconvenience with the company’s credit card so they will give me like a thousand dollars cash to pay for the entire week I am planning to stay at the Crown Plaza. Will the hotel staff become suspicious of me? How common is to pay hotel rooms in cash nowadays?

People pay for cash all of the time for hotel rooms these days. However, at most hotels it becomes a big production. You may need a deposit etc. And lets just say alot of people who pay cash are "watched" by a certain "group" if you know what i mean. Alot of people that pay cash where i work are dealers, pimps, prostitutes, etc. If you want to avoid alot of trouble as far as deposits and such, take one of your own credit cards to put down for incidentals. Or talk to your company and have them reimburse you if you pay on your credit card. Just some thoughts

What influence have Irish immigrants had on American society and culture since they have been coming to Americ?

September 28, 2009 - 7:05 pm 4 Comments

a.

I just wonder if the Irish people that have immigrated to America down the many years have had much effect culturally or in other ways.

The Irish immigrants played a huge role in the construction of Cities such as buildings, train tunnels, excavation of minerals and the war efforts. One-third of the American troops during the Revolutionary War were Irish. Irish immigrants built many of America’s bridges, canals, and railroads.

To find anything in America that has not been affected by Irish culture is a daunting and difficult task. 1 in every 4 Americans have Irish ancestry.

I have an Irish mobile phone, and can text home from virtually anywhere in the world. No problem texting from UK to Ireland. According to http://www.o2international.co.uk/standardrate_and_data.aspx, sending a text from overseas to UK is 25p. Probably the same from UK to overseas, including Ireland.

https://www.o2.co.uk/login?dest=http://sendtxt.o2.co.uk/sendtxt/action/compose says o2 customers can send free texts to any mobile number, it doesn’t say it has to be in UK.. You need to register to learn more. You could always contact them and ask, via the email link on
