What’s the best way to defeat writer’s block?

I need to finish my book by august and I still have 47 pages to go. I already have 353 done but I keep getting writer’s block. Only one month left; help!
I already have the outline complete. I just get so bored and easily distracted every time I sit down to write.

I listen to things that I like, for example, the sound of rain, maybe listening to music may inspire me to write sumthing, or I go over what I’ve already written, (not the WHOLE thing buh some of it, lyk a couple of the previous pages). I also think about people: lyk my friends, family and juss people i noe. N’ I noe this sounds strange, buh eat sumthing that u lyk, it might give u an idea, lyk maybe the main character was at lol…buh whatever u lyk, whatever has inspired u in the past, u should try, to help u get ideas…g’luck on ure book, hope everything goes well!

  1. What always helps me is to lay in bed, turn out the lights and listen to my iPod. I choose my favorite songs and create like a music video or story to go along. It always inspires me with fresh ideas to write! Or a long car ride listening to the radio :)

  2. Oh wow, that’s difficult. I hope you work well under time constraints.
As for getting over the writer’s block, that’s tricky. Everyone’s different. I would suggest, though, a change in scene in some way. That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to go some place new but really more to just try something you don’t normally do.
Otherwise, doing something that really relaxes you may help because you’re so stressed out about it right now. The easiest way to deal with a high stress situation is to take some time to just relax and calm down and let your brain focus on something else for a bit, hence the suggestion to try something you don’t normally do. And try not to worry about it too much because that doesn’t help you either.
Hope I’ve been helpful. I can say I’ve been there and the whole "new things" thing got me out of my rut along with just writing anything even if it was total junk or just a letter to a friend.

Listen to music, take a walk, ride a bike, sleep, spend the day away from the house, just do something off beat for the day.

    Hope I helped! Good Luck!

  4. Maybe you should take a break from this story and relax a little for a while, and then go back on to task.

Another idea is to brainstorm ideas that you could use for this story. Do you want someone close to the main character to die, or maybe you could make the characters start getting ready for an event thats coming up (e.g. Easter, Christmas).

A great way to avoid this in future is to make a very detailed story skeleton or plan, whichever works best for you.

Another idea to increase story length could be to extend on previous things in your story. Perhaps instead of "his/her birthday was a great day out" how about "he had a great day out on his birthday, they went to the …etc.

Good luck on your story, i hope this gets you past your writers block.

I was always taught to rewrite the last word you wrote untill another idea came to your mind. But I personally find talking to people, reading other things, and listening to music all help me.

  8. Try writing about something else – get away from your book for a few days. Write something completely different. Perhaps a different path will be able to get you back where you want to be.

  9. I had writer’s block for over a week. I obssessed with writing a perfect plot but I couldn’t find the crucial elements: how, why, when??
Two weeks later, it just came to me.
I saw a lot of movies that related to my story and I got ideas, but originally I typed my preview of the story on Yahoo Answers, and as I was writing my question, it suddenly just came to me.
