What is the best hotel for a romantic weekend in Amsterdam?
I want to take my boyfriend away for his birthday in January and am undecided which hotel to book. Can anyone recommend a good hotel, that’s central and nice for a celebrating couple?
There are so many great options that it’s hard to choose! I’m also not sure what your budget is — at the high end, you might want to check out the Fusion Suites Number 40, the Black Tulip, Hotel Roemer, Banks Mansion, and the Seven Bridges hotel (these are all pretty pricey — in the $200-$400 range!)
For something a little more wallet-friendly but still very nice (under $200), you might want to look into the Chic & Basic, the Bridge Hotel, or the Hotel Zandbergen.
For a real bargain (under $100 a night), the Hotel Brouwer is cute — or look into the Prinsenhof, Hotel Weber, or the Owl Hotel.
If you want a little more food for thought, check out IgoUgo.com’s Amsterdam page; there are tons of reviews on hotels, restaurants, activities, nightlife, and other things to do in Amsterdam, as well as travel journals and candid pictures that might get your inspiration going. http://www.igougo.com/travel_guide-l502-Amsterdam_tourism.html
Hope this helps — and have a great time! What a nice girlfriend you are, whisking your boyfriend away for his birthday!

I would do a search at http://www.vacationsnbeyond.joystar.com or contact them
Good thing about them they usually will get you the best price, so if you find it cheaper tell them your best price and they usually beat it.

The trouble with advice is that you get a mass of info and have to struggle again to make a choice and still not know if you have done the right thing. So I give you only one url. Not because I am connected to this hotel but I live here for 40 years and would have reserved this hotel for myself for a romantic outing.
Pullitzer is based along one of the old canals in Amsterdam. In fact the building consist of old canalhouses connected with eachother. Look at the site. Located a stone throw away from the famous Westerkerk (and Anne Frank house) and with little pubs and restautants nearby. You walk to the centre in less then 10 minutes. The small streets in the neibourghhood connecting the other canals (4 in total) have nice shops (also bric a brac) with specialities and again masses of small places to sit and have a lunch or drink. You want more info email me.

Try Botel. Its located right newa Centraal Station downtown Amsterdam. I believe the rates are fairly reasonable too!

Try the Ibis Hotel at the Amsterdam Centraal Train Station. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s good. What hotel would be cheap anyway, unless you go to a backpacking hostel?

It’s one of many around the world (mainly Europe, Africa, South America and Asia) belonging to the French mulitnational company Accor. I’ve used them frequently and I trust the brand very much.

I am a frequent user of Ibis hotels, hence the recommendation.
My boyfriend and I are going to Amsterdam in about two weeks and after tons of research on different hotels we decided to stay at the Hotel Inntel Golden Tulip. It got great reviews, pretty cheap ($140/ night) and is a short walk from centraal station.
