How much does a driver earn in Ireland per month?

What is the monthly slary of a driver in Ireland? Is this job good at irelnd?I have got a driver job offer from Ireland but I am confused abt it.Can anyone help me what to do?

What sort of "driver" do you mean? There are various different types of licences, Hackney (taxi) licences, B licences for vans minibuses etc up to EC+1 licences for the biggest articulated lorries (HGVs)

My partner has had several truck driving jobs in Ireland over the years, he has a EC+1 licence. Some employers pay an hourly rate (average take home pay 500-600 Euro per week for a 50 hour week) some pay by the trip so if you drive from one end of Ireland to the other and it takes you 10 hours you get paid the same as if it took you 8 hours, your fault you were slow.

The wages are not great and often you are expected to sleep in the cab. Usually there is a meal allowance but not always and 10 hours driving is still normal despite the "rule" about tachographs and rest periods.

  1. To become one, see your local council, as there are tests to pass.

  2. after taxes the monthly salary would be 1500 -1800 euros. remember ireland and in particular dublin is not a cheap place to live. Things have come down in the recession. …so its more affordable than it was. It would only be considered an average job here.Of course u dont specify what kind of driver …………so the answer has to be very general like this.
