Ireland 2006 Dublin

Dublin 2006

Dublin is the capital city of Ireland and is a beautiful old city, but it is growing fast. We hope that it keeps it old charm while becoming a modern cosmopolitan city. This was the second visit to Dublin for Adele and I, the first for Mike. We got from Dalkey to Dublin by the Dart Line getting off at the Tara Station which is in walking distance from O’Connell Street. The best way to get around Dublin to most of the different sites is the Hop-on Hop-off Tour Bus. Some of the sites we visited are on other Slideshows like Kilmainham Prison, Guinness Brewery, Dublin Castle, Christ Church, and St. Patrick Cathedral. We also visited Trinity College with its Book of Kells and the National Museum of Ireland both do not allow picture taking, but are must sees on any visit to Dublin.

    My comment referred …
My comment referred only to the useful legacy of British rule within the specific context of Dublin’s attractiveness as a modern tourist city as shown in the video. In the wider all Ireland context the effect of the lengthy occupation

    IRISH PEOPLE PAY THE COST

The state is spending more than 91.5million euro a year to accommodate 7000 asylum seekers, due to 7yr backlog. There are 14,131 ‘leave to remain’ applicants whom the Justice Dept. describes as having ‘unfounded’ claims for asylum.

Meanwhile our health, education systems are breaking down and Irish people are being told to emigrate…..goodbye Ireland, goodbye the celts.

  7. That true Dublin …
That true Dublin does have beautiful Georgian architecture. That however does not give us any reason to appreciate past British rule. If I started why we should resent past British rule I can tell you it overshadows the positive. Its anything but ironic! I myself have no appreciation for past British rule or do I resent any British people. Ive many British friends but I am just saying your comment is annoying!

    Apparently Dublin …
Apparently Dublin has beautiful Georgian architecture and attracts large numbers of foreign students to its language schools which is ironic as the Irish seldom appreciate the legacy of British rule.

hate Irish weather, although all last week we got sun :) and in February we got snow :) but apart from that, summers are rainy and cause floods, winters are dull with short days and to top it off, everything is expensive and our economy is dead! Great place to visit as a tourist though.
