   but think about it. an international team represents the people of there country the irish rugby team represents two peoples the irish people and the anglo-scots of the north this doesnt really work.its the same thing with the spanish soccer team,spain have never won a world cup,why? because there are spanish players,basque players and catalonian players playing together all of which have a differant culture. its the same thing with the irish rugby team

   People in general …
   People in general think its a poor song, and would prefer Amhrain na bhFiann as the only anthem. The problem is that players such as Rory Best, Isaac Boss and Andrew Trimble are not from the republic, so Amhrain na bhFiann is not their anthem. The national side is a whole of Ireland team, not just the republic, so a song has to be played that includes everyone instead of just players from the republic.

   Its a matter of practicality.Northern ireland haven’t got a large enough player base to put forward a team by themselves. At the moment only 3 northern Irish players are in National side consideration, and none of them are starters. Their team would be far too weak to compete in any 6-nations game. They’d be like a worse version of Italy. And a N.Ireland team would be the death of Ulster as a provincial side, because only 6 counties of ulster are Northern Ireland.

   i know it is confusing its all pc bullshit,i personally think that N.Ireland should have a separate team,im not anti-british or anything(ex girlfriend was protestant from the north) but it should be the republic of ireland rugby team and the n ireland rugby team make a seven nations championship.

    “Irelands Call” …
    “Irelands Call” basically represents the 6 Counties (Northern Ireland) who’s people dont want to sing “Amhrann Na bhfiann” because that represents the Republic of Ireland, a lot of politics involved so that gets up a lot of peoples noses down South including mine. Also when Ireland play abroad they only play “Irelands Call” and leave out the Irish Anthem altogether which i still find confusing. Could somebody come up with an answer to that one??

    13 of the irish players are singing the irish national anthem but only 5 are singing irelands call 3 if you discard the 2 n,irish players.look at the differance in bod when hes singing the national anthem and irelands call he looks as if hes in pain singing irelands call
