I’m a horrid singer, can’t carry a tune in a bucket type. But I’d love to be able to sing as well as him.

I have never heard of this guy until I saw this video. I stopped it in under a minute. Why people like this guy has to be due to ignorance.

  8. Finally, someone …
Finally, someone who agrees, it can only be described as a “Flat drone” or something synonymous. He gives a bad name to people who can’t sing, if I called him a bad singer I would only be insulting them.

I think the most articulate and literary expression of the depth and truth and insanity of love and passion ever written…genius songwriting Mr. Cohen.

I( totyally agree, its down to what the corperate s at the top are looking for, doesn’t matter if they can sing perfectly, we can edit it out later, as long as the looks are there thats all that matters to them, real talents been overshadowed by large breasts, perfect smiles and big knobs, and i’m not refering to being well endowed!

  16. I think he sings …

this is the way it’s supposed to be played. leonard cohen is of course the first, and jeff buckley does it well also, but I hate those young singers on Idols, they have no idea how to really sing it!!!!

  21. Cohen is the …
Cohen is the composer of “Hallelujah” so it should not be hard to get used to his version, it was the original.

The best way to critique the “others” is to first listen to Cohen, see how he interpreted the song, see how the background music accompanied him and so on. And then imagine what Cohen was trying to convey to his listeners.

Then listen to the rest and see if they capture that same essence.

Some come close like kd lang and Buckley, and way down the line is Rufus.

  22. I know what you …
I know what you mean, I’m a Rufus fan all the way… but Jeff’s version is clearly better. Although I do think Rufus’ rendition is still very enjoyable.

As for Leonard Cohen… well, he’s good, but really hard to get accustomed to.

Out of all the renditions, Buckley’s is the best. This one is still awesome though.
