    Germany and France are not the same country are they? The 6 counties that make up northen Ireland and the 26 counties that make up the republic are Ireland. No matter what unionists and brits like to say northen ireland the 6 counties and the republic the 26 counities are not forgien countrys. Just because about 70 years ago the birts created a gerrymandered state with a made up broder doesnt mean its real. Its an illegal state. If you are born in the 32 counties of ireland you are irish.

    Good point! I hope ballynafeighbluedog isnt suggesting that a United Ireland is the solution by his post! (Joke) Hopefully the latest abuse scandal in the Republic will reduce further the influence of the Catholic Church on state affairs.; I dont think the title “Southern Roman State” now really rings true to anyone under 50; the economy is a disaster at present but will eventually recover. What next? Well, I suppose thats what politicians are paid for. Peace brings its own space for dialogue.

    Lads. Unionist majority rule failed and if Nationalists become the majority in the North, our problems will not evaporate! A large Unionist minoity will not be coerced into a political entity to which they do not identify with. The old ideas failed all of us. We need new ones and the curent “idea” is the NI embly. Let iido its work and see what the next 50 years brings.

    nationaly is often thought of as loyalty, place of birth or culture. however this is wrong. nationality is your relationship with the state (government). based on international law, and public national law, anyone born within northernireland is British. People born in Northern Ireland have the right to apply for an Irish passport, but will not be entitled to the benefits of citizenship unless they officially change their domicile to Republic of Ireland.

    by full you mean about 40% of the country vs about 35% who consider themselves irish and hope to get their country back. i hope you are aware that the republican community is growing very fast, and has been for the past 30 years. if that trend continues, eventually there will be a democratic vote in which republicans will win.
