IRISH PEOPLE PAY …
IRISH PEOPLE PAY THE COST
The state is spending more than 91.5million euro a year to accommodate 7000 asylum seekers, due to 7yr backlog. There are 14,131 ‘leave to remain’ applicants whom the Justice Dept. describes as having ‘unfounded’ claims for asylum.

Meanwhile our health, education systems are breaking down and Irish people are being told to emigrate…..goodbye Ireland, goodbye the celts.

You still won’t get …
You still won’t get many Irish people to work in Londis for a few Euro more than you get on the dole and rent allowance. Can’t see why everyone is grinding their axes over foreigners taking such jobs.
The point of the …
The point of the matter, is that Irish people still view this job as below them. As an irish man in that queue, i have no problem with anyone in that queue. I blame IRISH bankers, bosses, and politicians for getting us into this mess
half of them should …

During the boom …
During the boom many Irish people were more than happy to let foreigners take jobs in cafes and shops etc that they themselves didn’t want to do anymore. Ireland has become home for these “foreigners”. Now when times are hard, these suddenly become Irish jobs?? Modern Ireland is home to many nationalities. Comments like the above are simplisitic and ignorant.
If all the …
If all the foreigners went home there’d be plenty of jobs for the Irish
….I hate to say …
….I hate to say it but this is cause and effect….we get to argue and fight and polarize ourselves from each other while the Banks flood the world market with money…then for some reason….ask for it all back….and continue the apparent ‘cycles’ of the economy…..I wish I didn’t know…..
Says who, though? …
Says who, though? Is that just your opinion? Because most EU countries, back in 2001, decided not to allow immigration from the 10 accession states and this continues to be the case. Ireland was one of the few that allowed it. It was well within the rights of each EU state to make that decision for themselves according to whether it suited them or not. Besides, that only accounts for internal European immigrants. What about the non-European immigrants? That’s more the issue.
That’s also true, …
That’s also true, but you have to take the rough with the smooth, recession or not. You can’t on one hand take large grants from the EU, but then deny the freedom of movement of people within it’s borders when your own economy isn’t going so well!
I think the EU has …
I think the EU has been good for Ireland for social reasons. It has helped free Ireland from the conservative grip of the RC Church. It also provided structural funding etc and these were put to good use in fact. The downside was Ireland lost most of it previously huge fishing industry to the EU. It’s questionable whether Ireland could survive outside the EU. Isn’t even Iceland joining now? Even outside the EU, it’s very likely Ireland would continue to used the Euro as a currency anyway.
That’s true. But …
That’s true. But then again those countries you mentioned didn’t welcome Irish or other foreign people when they were going through a recession.
For any Irish …
For any Irish person to cliam that foreigners have no right to jobs in this country, is hypocritical at best – remember Irish emigrants took jobs left right and center in places like England, US and Australia for decades.
The reason I keep ‘ …
The reason I keep ‘harping’ on about membership of the EU is because they are the ones that decide the rules about the free movement of people and goods. If this can’t be changed then there is only one option and that is to leave the EU and decide out own emigration laws. Do you agree or not?
Also it’s stupid to …
Also it’s stupid to think that even if Ireland were outside the EU that we wouldn’t have immigrants! So Norway and Switzerland don’t have immigrants?! Of course they do! Switzerland, in particular, has loads.
“You can’t have it …
“You can’t have it every way either we are in Europe or we are not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ” You made this comment. So I just challenged your logic by saying how do you know they’re all from the EU. It’s likely they’re not. Therefore your comment about us being in or out of Europe is IRRELEVANT!
How do i know where …
How do i know where they are from?? I presume they are here legally because they are looking for a job where they will pay tax!!! If you don’t like it then contact your TD and campaign for Ireland to pull out from the EU… in the meantime you can vote no to the Lisbon treaty!
most of these …
most of these people aren’t irish

Sorry to here about your situation. I suspect the particular field you are in has more candidates than actual posts.
I can only speak for my situation in Pharmacy – I went over for three days to England, done 3 interviews and was offered all three! There’s also more locum work over here than you can shake a stick at.
