  4. one of the Turkish …
one of the Turkish Representatives and prominent poet Yahya Kemal Beyatli notices that while all the delegates vote against Turkey, only the Irish Representative votes for her. When Yahya Kemal asks the Irishman about the reason behind this, he replies;ust like any other Irishmen I have to. When we were struggling with starvation, famine and epidemics during 1840-1845 and no other country was helping, your Ottoman ancestors lend us a helping hand and not only sent us money but ship loads of food

  5. Ottoman Sultan …
Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid declared his intention to send 10,000 sterling to Irish farmers but Queen Victoria requested that the Sultan send only 1,000 sterling, because she had sent only 2,000 sterling. The Sultan sent the 1,000 sterling but also secretly sent 3 ships full of food. The English courts tried to block the ships, but the food arrived Drogheda harbor and was left there by Ottoman Sailors.
and it is told that during the negotiations of The Treaty of Lousanne in 1923

    Also Patrick …
Also Patrick Germany & France had potato crop failure & stop all exports of food. Unlike the British who raped the land of Ireland. British Empire is no more. Britain is a 2nd rate power with its enemy within itself. The Irish government should call this a Holocaust but they not brave enough to declare it as one. The British Queen should apologise for the role Britain played in Ireland. Example the Penal Laws, laws similar what the Nazis gave the Jews. Laws to degrade & humiliate the Irish.

  17. The so called …
The so called british empire and there inbred upperclass were the cause of our nations horrors….a famine caused by the greed of the few,,,they filled our docks and wharehouses with grain for there so called empire and left irish children to die in the streets and countryside,,,may god curse the british empire and all those who choose to deny what it really stood for,,,,,GREED, ,AND THE RAPE OF WEALTH AND FREEDOM OF ANY NATION THEY OCCUPIED AGAINST THE WILL OF THE NATIVE PEOPLES….

  19. did you know its a …
did you know its a proven fact the irish upper class of that time were the reason why so many died not the english

  20. Yes, all around the …
Yes, all around the world, people had faced hard times. Black Slavery, the Holocost (i spelled that wrong), Irish Famine, Plauges of all sorts…..but Irish people are more touched by Irish problems while watching this. So i think it’s best to put these discussions in the lap of Queen Victoria, and watch another video, one that doesn’t upset me!

  21. Actually hun, no …
Actually hun, no one was really responcable for the famine. It was the contaminated soil imported from america….But the English brought the plauge, as some may say, becuz, think of all they could have done to help. But becuase they never got along with the irish, so they found it a perfect opprotunity to put them throo torture, in a sense. But not all Englishmen were heartless, some wanted to help, but couldn’t due to laws But the irish were strong ppl, and got through it. It just brutal!

    for sure, i don’t …
for sure, i don’t know much about the topic, im 100% irish, but parts of my family originally had come from spain(black irish) and england(hence the last name robinson) but what i’ve heard and correct me if i’m wrong is that the english were either the reason FOR the famine or they were actually not selling their products to the irish, not by chance, but refusal, and people wonder why we hate them.

  23. i dont think …
i dont think selfish, i just think she didnt care…so yes, kind of slfish.

  24. thats what i say …
thats what i say too. The Irish slowly died, while the english sat back and watched….and laughed…..and could have done so much to help….but they didnt…my family died ther…..my family came from cork….infact my grandfather was the first one to be born in america on my dads side of the family….no, im a proud irish girl…..ive done my history..so correct me if im wrong but..didn’t the english call them selves christians? well then…according to history, they sure didn’t act like it!!
