In the Republic of Ireland, is it necessary to swear on the bible in court?

I know its not the case for the US, but what about Republic of Ireland?

No,you have a choice, you can affirm or swear on the bible,I was sworn in as a juror and didn’t know I could affirm, but I was interested in the case and the working s of the courts so I didn’t object. It was a reasonably high profile case and I didn’t want to rock the boat and risk not being picked as juror.
