2024 apparently according to Star Trek, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8thJJDLang I for one think a United Ireland would make more sense economically, but it ever is to happen it must happen peacefully and with consent of the people of northern Ireland.

Interestingly an enough is most British people don’t want Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2001/aug/21/northernireland.northernireland1 But the majority of people in Northern Ireland would support staying with Britain in the United Kingdom, so who knows

Maybe . But what I think is that the boundary should be moved east so that the predominantly-Catholic western half, including Londonderry, is annexed by the Republic of Ireland and the predominantly-Protestant eastern half remains British . Another good alternative would be for the North to have some kind of autonomy .

I don't think that most people in Northern Ireland want to be a part of the Republic of Ireland. In Northern Ireland the Protestants are in the majority and the Catholics are in the minority. If they became part of the Republic of Ireland that would most likely be reversed.

I think it had been moving in that direction when the Irish economy was booming, now that they are feeling the effects of the global recession it might take much longer but I believe the north will eventually return to the Republic of Ireland.
